VONR 1101. PERSONAL-VOCATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This introduction to the vocational nursing profession includes information and guidance on the history, standards of practice, vocational roles, and licensure, to facilitate the transition of the student into the role of the caregiver as a professional vocational nurse by exploring communication, the nurse-patient relationship, relationships with the patient families’, physicians, interprofessional collaboration, spiritual and cultural implications of holistic health care, legal and ethical issues, and the changing roles for the vocational nurse as it relates to the health care needs and trends of our population. It guides the student in the development of a philosophy of nursing and provides an overview of legal, ethical, holistic awareness, and cultural issues confronting nurses today.
